Tired blather list

1. Mom and Aunt got home last night, right when it started raining, so they terrified the dog even more than he had already been terrified and it took some time to calm him down. Also, having four humans and a dog in the house again makes me even more eager to move -- we even found our affordable-level dream place, but suspect by the time we're financially able to move at the end of August, it will have been grabbed by some other eminently sensible person who wants this excellent apartment. Or, when I go to link, I can discover that it has already been taken, though the building has nearly 30 units in it and I can hope that one will be available later in the summer.

It also made me aware that I really need to prep to start moving the piano, which is going to be an absolute headache -- recently I learned that the piano is actually kind of valuable and some mover/tuners are apprehensive of touching it? Yes, it's a Steinway from 1949, but it hasn't been tuned in 25 years (NOT MY FAULT, it technically is mine but remained in my parents' custody because I wasn't going to take it to college -- I started asking for it to be tuned when I was around ten, and so many years later it still has not been) oh god someone please save my sad off-key instrument. I can't even play the poor thing anymore because the sound is so off, I really need it relocated and tuned properly.

I had been worried about resettling the dog. Apparently my real concern is resettling the fussy old heirloom piano.

2. I simultaneously still really miss having more in depth RP experiences, and am wholly overwhelmed by the giant games people keep trying to invite me to; I don't even really mind anymore if I don't know any of the players so long as there aren't 20+ of them.

3. Benefits situation still is not sorted out. Hoping to get to that today.

4. Writing situation has been immensely stymied by my tragic medication situation. I still have no confidence in writing fantasy so I may need to experience some more Dragon Age to try to get my head in this game. I'm still planning to do this unnamed project for July NaNo though; one of my compatriots already has two books written.

5. Feeling silly that I revamped my access list to be more accurate so I could actually use it and as a result ... keep only making public posts.

6. This picture from HourlyFox was so pretty -- and strange -- I feel the need to save it here.

DAMN, bet those keys are ivory and everything.

I feel you on the Steinway. I spent 8 years with a baby-grand piano, moving it three times, because my mother* didn't want to give it all the way away. The last move was to a community center, and I don't know what happened to it after that. I don't even play keyboards!

The moral of the story is: contact the school for the blind, because that's the alpha piano-tuner network, and I'm sure they'll be able to hook you up with someone who's worked on older pianos.

* She was a piano prodigy, and this was the piano her parents bought during the Depression for her. But World War II so she didn't go to Curtis after all, and she already had a Baldwin and a Bechstein in her home.

2. I totally get that, yep. :/

3. My fingers are crossed for you that if it hasn't been sorted out already it will be soon.
