I am at work on Yom Kippur because I have no sense of how calendars work or when to schedule time off in advance. They would have let me just not come in, but I can't spare the funds right now since we're always frighteningly in the red every month what with Brady's income situation being ... tenuous. I am wearing white and also sneakers because all my work-appropriate shoes are leather. People are acting surprised to see me, though, and in fact our executive director was all, "You are the LAST person I thought would be here today!" Because I guess I am the most blatantly Jewish-looking of our Jewish staff, which is ... likely very true. My last name is a toss-up but my appearance, I think it probably is me.
Here's a pile of miscellany that is just personal logging-stuff. Along with this existential apology for how I am super behind on comments and currently unable to reply to all of them but I appreciate you all and have still been commenting on other people's journals, so ... *shrug*
The flood casualties:
- the bathroom ceiling light, which landlord is replacing
- some pipe in the kitchen sink which is currently being fixed but we won't have a kitchen sink for two days (?? I don't understand, but uh, we have a bathtub so it's not really a big deal)
- my electric toothbrush, which is too expensive to replace but still less than the renters' insurance deductible so I will just not have one for a while
- the bathroom floor, kinda, it just needs a REALLY thorough cleaning which I'm almost done with
- two mass market paperback books (out of something like 200 that could have risked damage)
All in all this is really the most minor flooding I've had to deal with.
On the other hand, they should be putting our dishwasher in right about now.
Game stuff:
I am finally not drowning in being behind on my main RP; staff volunteering is going on right now and the numbers went high enough there's going to be a vote, so of course I'm sure I will be voted off game-adminning for the next 6 months. This is sad because I find staffing immensely satisfying and I'm sure being able to do behind the scenes stuff is why I've lasted around so long.
At least I'm not scrambling desperately to keep up with scene requirements anymore. Everything runs quarterly, and I have two separate reqs: one as a staffer and the other as a ranked character. As a staffer I've got ten and my ranked character is now at 7; each of those numbers has to be at least nine (normally by the end of a quarter, this one is July-September, but since the staff call was in the middle of the month we actually had to have 9 scenes by the time a vote would have opened. I made my 9th on Saturday, and today was #10).
But because I'm better with wiki stuff than basically anyone else on the game, when people vote me off staff and then ask me to do things anyway I always want to be like :| no bye. I never am, because the game site looking good is important to me. I'm also in no way confident that I'd be the one voted off, but I was last time, so am just expecting it again. Prepare for disappointment and appreciate good news. It's funny how I feel let down by not being able to do more work!
Meds stuff:
So yesterday I thought the vicious headache cycle was finally ending, except it started to storm and I began to get a little migraine-y and since I was at work (and Trip was pawing at me and crying) I took an Excedrin Migraine, which is not anywhere near as effective as the toradol+oxy blend, but ... work.
This was a huge mistake and I am never combining venlafaxine and Excedrin ever again. My entire body was shaking all damn day, I felt like I was dying, and only managed to realize I could take alprazolam to help me fall asleep at slightly after four in the morning. So it was like 4:45 when I finally fell asleep, uh, kinda. Trip barked a few times too, and eventually I just gave up and made him sleep with me to keep him quiet -- which he isn't a fan of, he likes his bed in his crate.
I still have basically no appetite, but as I'm not a big fan of eating I also don't really care that much. I've been living off Chessmen cookies and dill pickles. Except for today, where I'm trying not to eat for as long as possible (I have medical necessity to eat at all).

depending on the pipe replacement, some plumbing epoxies take well over 24hrs to cure to proper waterproofness, so you don't want to use whatever's been epoxy'd at all until after the curing is complete.
as for the rest... *hugs if wanted?*
