December talking & a book rec
More December prompts answered, eventually they'll be on the right days!
Your thoughts on or reactions to a few specific foods:
* Oatmeal: I am allergic and also not a fan of the smell. My dad couldn't stand the smell either but my mom loves oatmeal. Interestingly my dad and I both like(d) eggs but weren't big fans of the smell, and my mom can't tolerate eggs OR the way they smell.
* Miso (soup or other): I LOVE. MISO SOUP. I would be content to consume nothing but miso soup for the rest of my life, but I think my body would complain. It is one of two foods that I can just eat endlessly and never get tired of -- too bad no one in my household has a clue how to make it!
* Licorice (black and/or red): I greatly enjoy the scent of licorice but have remarkably bad teeth so am advised to not eat it. I appreciate things that are scented like it and when people eat it near me. A few times I have licked a piece before letting a relative willing to eat the piece I licked consumed it.
* Hollandaise sauce: This stuff is surprisingly good. I expected it would be gross because I made the mistake of finding out what was in it before sampling it, but then I made myself try it anyway and enjoyed it!
* Coconut milk: I'm also allergic to coconut, but I appreciate coconut milk's EXISTENCE a lot because everyone I love is lactose intolerant. Plus, I have lotion that has coconut milk in it and since the allergy is only if I eat it, it makes for a really nice lotion!
If you could RP any Mariana Zapata character, who would you choose? (Alternatively, favorite romance book (Zapata or otherwise) you've read recently?)
I'm going to answer both of these! The answer to the first one depends on another player; if I have a Kulti, the answer is Sal. If nobody's playing my other half then it becomes Jasmine.
As for favorites, I think I'm going to give that to From Lukov with Love right now! Mostly because of the fact that skating is a sport I understand, and because of the surprise about Ivan's "kids" that had me hurting my face grinning. There were some things I didn't like as much about it but lots of things that made up for that. :)
And also, if you like dogs, or dog sports, or really cold things, or ever entertained being remotely interested in dog sledding, Welcome to the Goddamn Ice Cube: Chasing Fear and Finding Home in the Great White North by Blair Braverman is currently $1.99 on Kindle. I don't know Ms. Braverman but I did really enjoy her book and I love her Twitter, so I can confidently say that I think people who might like memoirs about dog sledding should check it out or at least try a sample. I don't know how long it's on sale for!
Relatedly, if you like dogs talking about sports, you should follow
sportssled on Twitter. They're the dogs in the book. They talk about sportsball. :)

I'm pretty sure Brady tried once and got overwhelmed by the choices on the miso paste front, uncertain of which of the 300 options he wanted to buy. He is a competent cook. I am a kitchen disaster. But even he was mystified by The Japanese Grocery Store.

Thanks!
I enjoy hollandaise sauce on asparagus and on eggs Benedict. And my late mother-in-law especially liked miso soup - I remember it's one of the few foods she could tolerate when she wasn't feeling well.
If you like the taste of black licorice (anise) you might like anise-flavored toothpaste/tooth powder, or ouzo!

I'm often sick to my stomach so yeah, miso soup is kinda magical like that.

I like your answers for the MZ question. Playing Sal without a Kulti would be hard. And Lukov was my favorite MZ read this year, even if I re-read Kulti. *shhhh!*--
