Because I'm trying to keep myself posting even though I'm practically a corpse at this stage. (I talk a lot more on Twitter since long writing is hard right now, but I'm currently suffering from osteomyelitis and will be having a bone graft on Wednesday.) The Friday Five has always been good for that but I slept through yesterday, so we're pretending it's Friday.

How did you choose your LJ/DW username?
There's a long, drawn-out story about how I got 'pseudelight' as a frequent username, a portmanteau of 'pseudo-delightful.' This was back in, like, middle school. When DW was in closed beta, I decided to make it even shorter and just claim 'delight,' then realized I'd fallen into the hole of "a good portion of closed beta users have 6 letter usernames."

What has been your favorite day this year and why?
That would be the day during the cruise in February where C and I chilled in Barbados on the beach for a few hours and then caught up with everyone else for dinner. It was just beautiful, and there was also a chocolate factory involved that morning. I think that was all the same day! The cruise week runs together, but that was by far the best part of 2017.

What is your favorite film you've seen in the past year and why?
To be honest, I can't think of if I've even watched a single movie this year. TV, yes (though it's pretty much been stuff I watched over a decade ago when it aired that is being re-watched), but I can't think of the last time I saw a movie? I know that the last time I saw anything in theatres was January 2016, but now it's more like "I must have seen movies since then, right?"

What is your favorite book you've read in the past year and why?
Angle of Truth by Lindsay Buroker, a fun sci-fi adventure in a world I love (and write in; I'm supposed to be having my own second Fallen Empire book come out this month but illness may mean it won't make the launch date) — this is my favorite of the second generation's stories so far (the main character being the daughter of the main character from the first 7-book series). It's got a lot of fun scenes, a good mix between character development and ACTION, and plays with science, society and futuristic religion in enjoyable fashions. Very Battlestar Galactica-esque in places.
