delight: sign reading "ambulance crossing" (like wild animals)

Because work is insane. But first: I have to declare comment amnesty up to this post, I'm sorry everyone! There is a whole lot of Too Much going on right now and you are all so lovely and responsive and I love it but I just cannot go back and respond to everything at this juncture. May work slow down soon. Please. :(

Anyway.

How old are you:
Thirty, finally. I kept thinking of myself as thirty probably starting at 25, so it's nice to actually be there.

Tattoos:
None. This will never change, because it would be spitting on my dad's memory; he had huge issues with tattoos, not as an art or anything, but he had so many patients who died from hepatitis contracted from tattoo-getting that he made me promise, and even though many places are better and cleaner now, I will keep that promise. (See also: I wanted a bellybutton piercing and got a nice story about someone who died of sepsis. He had no issues with how these things LOOKED, but was convinced that most body mods are just slow murder.)

Have you ever ...

Ridden in an ambulance:
Many, many more times than I can count, since I worked on one for eight years. As a patient? Twice.

Sang karaoke:
Too shy.

Ice skated:
Plenty of times, though it's been a couple of years; the last time was at [personal profile] wordsaremyfaith's last birthday spent in New York.

Ridden a motorcycle:
Actually no! I feel as if this is something I should experience, but I notably have not. Jetski, though, yes. I love to jetski. Motorcycle of the seas.

Stayed in hospital:
A few times.

Skipped school:
Skipped illicitly, like without it being my parents pulling me out because they thought something the school did was stupid? That would be, oh, about 30% of high school. I didn't show up to a lot of classes. I was burned out and uninspired and able to graduate with a 3.5 GPA just from exams and turning in assignments.

Last phone call:
I think it was calling my mom to say hi.

Last text from:
Peapod letting me know my groceries are out for delivery.

Pepsi or Coke:
The Coke line of products, but not actually Coke; I'm not a cola person. Sprite and Fanta are lovely. I also like all kinds of ginger ale and I can't remember which ones are associated with which manufacturers.

Favorite Pie:
I don't eat pies. There's a little bit too much food-touching-while-still distinct going on.

Favorite pizza:
Green pepper & onion.

Favorite season:
Summer. Absolutely no contest.

Broken bones:
My nose, twice. Couple of hand bones when I was younger. Multiple toes that are technically still broken.

Received a ticket:
Once, a 75-in-a-55 speeding ticket while I was late for an exam. That day only kept getting better! /s

Favorite color:
Olive green.

Sunset or sunrise:
Sunset, I think, even though twilight gives me headaches ... these days I'd rather not be awake for sunrise.

Because I still have too much work to do, and posting about my actual life is too overwhelming.

1. How did you name your pets?
We never changed our rescues' names, because ... we actually liked their names, though I've since learned it might be psychologically better to change the names of shelter dogs who were never fostered and just spent all their time in the shelter due to cognitive associations. I didn't know that then! I currently don't have any pets :( but would be naming them after book characters, most likely.

2. Poirot or Miss Marple?
I prefer Poirot. Mom prefers Miss Marple.

3. Do you have a FB account too?
I do, but I wish I didn't. The boundaries of what you can or can't say on Facebook are really strange to me and its hugeness and a whole bunch of other things

4. Books - hardcover or paperback?
Neither. Digital. The answer for the past four or five years has been 'large print,' and I've learned that my Kindle just does that for me. Any standard print books require magnifying glasses so I'd rather stick to eInk for everything. (Backlit reading like on a computer, phone or any non-eInk ereader doesn't really work either.)

5. Mobile phone: Windows/Android or Apple?
This question is wrooooong, so let's rewrite. Who thought Android was Windows? :)

5. Mobile phone: Windows, Android or Apple?
Android. I've had a Samsung Galaxy for the last like ... 5? years? First a S5 and now I have the S7; husband might be getting a J3. My mother has an iPhone 6 though and I like it just fine — I stick to Android in part because of the fact that I've already sunk a ton of money into Android apps. I have Apple computers and an iPad, so you'd think I would have the iPhone for more interoperability but that didn't end up happening.

Year in review meme. Some of the questions thanks to [personal profile] kate, 'cause I can never edit the ones I don't like myself to come up with better ones. I've seen multiple editions of this meme the last two years -- last year, I also found one I liked better, but I didn't manage to track it down again this year. But at least this typical one has been getting some modifications all around, as there are various different mostly identical sets of questions. Even [personal profile] kate's original source was different to some of the ones I saw on my reading list, which is interesting! Meme evolution.

so this is the same one everyone else did, with some minor variations. )
